I’m old enough to remember Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME. Back in those days, the way forward was with a new product, a new big release.
Nowadays many companies (including the Windows one) actively try to avoid big releases. They want to do many incremental small updates.
With big releases it is is hit or miss. Small updates give room to course correct, to be flexible.
It is not so much different in our lives.
We tend to make big changes. They are often hit or miss.
But we could shift to small incremental updates. To try things out, to be flexible, to make little changes and see if they work for us.
